We Saved Everything On the Cloud

We saved everything on the cloud,
then it rained away.
Such panic—
all we have is each other,

and our memories,
and right now.

It was an epic glitch
or a bloodless war.
A clearing wind,
a wailing horde.

Accepting this, settling in,
we feel an ancient ancience.
It goes back to the beginning.
Past the very first porch.

We gather today’s food.
The stores are back outdoors.
Hear the trucks backing up?

The babies still babble in public.
And bodies rot more than crumble.
Patience, patients.

A kiss for good luck!
