Recognition, Amen

I wanna hold the spine
of every book on your shelves.

Who doesn’t smile in their sleep
for dreams themselves?

Your name’s pure repetition
then everything again.

Your skin, my hands—
that’s half the plan.

Your dreams keep you up?
Showing you what?

The part that hurts?
That danger roams?

Let’s climb the stairs
and test our prayers!

Let’s recognize tonight
in those old poems.
